ADAPTING TO TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS   2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Starting with the 2008 model year, all light vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR are required to include a tire pressure
monitoring system, or TPMS. Since each vehicle manufacturer uses their own system, fleets must understand the unique relearn procedures and requirements for different makes and models. If your fleet operates new light vehicles and is having difficulty adapting to TPMS in the shop, then don't miss this opportunity to discover the resources that make the transition much easier. This seminar will address a number of issues related to TPMS including:

  • Identifying and installing valve stem and band-mounted sensors.

  • Demounting and mounting tires with valve stem and band-mounted sensors.

  • Relearn requirements for domestic and foreign vehicles.

  • Aftermarket relearn tools for complete TPMS service.

THE HAZARDS OF COMMERCIAL TRUCK TIRE SERVICE  3:15PM – 4:00PM

Every year, technicians are seriously and fatally injured while servicing truck tires because they were unaware of the risks associated with the job. To make matters worse, when the inflated tires and wheels become loose after detaching from a truck, also known as a wheel-off, the end result can be devastating. If your shop is handling truck tires in any way, then Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations may apply, but the liability of a potential wheel-off on a large truck could be significant for every fleet if the technician who installed the wheel wasn't qualified. This seminar will analyze some of the risks associated with commercial truck tire service including:

  • OSHA training regulations and how they apply.

  • Truck tire service risks to technicians.

  • Wheel-off prevention.
