I have been in fleet management for 20 years and with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County for the past 10 years. I started my Fleet Management career in the private sector before transitioning to the public sector. During my time with the Forest Preserve District we have expanded our alternative fuel fleet to cover 95% of our vehicles. We use compressed natural gas, propane Autogas, E85 ethanol, B20 biodiesel, hybrid, and electric. Our new fleet facility was built to LEED standards and is in the process of adding solar panels as our power source. I believe agencies need to have a comprehensive sustainability plan that goes beyond their fleet. The Forest Preserve District was the recipient of the #1 Small Fleet award by Government Fleet Magazine’s Leading Fleet in 2020
