Norman Barrientos

Norman Barrientos, AIA, is a registered architect with over 40 years of professional experience. He specializes in the design of operations and maintenance (O&M) facilities for public works, fleet maintenance, utilities, power, airports, parks, transit, and trucking and heavy equipment service centers. These O&M facilities typically include building functions for truck and equipment parking, fleet repair and maintenance, fabrication and welding, tire and hydraulic hose shops, parts inventory storage, electric and communication shops, truck washing, field crew quarters, administration offices, conference and training facilities, fueling and EV stations and salt sheds.

Having attained a national level of expertise with O&M facility design, Mr. Barrientos is now working in multiple States across the Midwest and more recently he is also working in the States of California, Kansas, and Florida. Mr. Barrientos is a prolific seminar provider for national association events involved in public works, fleet management, and vehicles and equipment sales. This includes presentations for the American Public Works Associations, Government Fleet Expo, National Association of County Engineers, Association of Government Fleet Administrators, and various locally-based chapters. His seminars focus on the fundamental design principles he has learned working on a wide variety of operations and maintenance facilities with his most popular seminar being titled, "Seven Design Principles of Highly Effective Garages".

Mr. Barrientos has also been involved in his local community with past service as a Board member for; Froedtert Hospital and Foundation, Mount Mary University Trustees, Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation, and the Milwaukee Arts Board. While born and raised in Madison, WI,  Mr. Barrientos has lived and worked in various States before settling in Milwaukee. He first started working as an intern Architect in Minneapolis and then moved to Boston to take an architectural designer position. Over his ten years in Massachusetts, Mr. Barrientos obtained his professional registration, was wed, had his first child and started his first architectural practice. After a two year stint in Chicago, Mr. Barrientos and his now larger family, moved to Milwaukee and he again set up his own architectural firm. His company, Barrientos Design & Consulting,  is now in its 26th year of operation.

In his free time, Mr. Barrientos enjoys moderate running as he is a recovering race-runner with his most memorable race being the Boston Marathon.
