Fleet Services Manager | City of Milwaukee– DPW Fleet Services

Brian White was appointed as Fleet Services Manager for the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August of 2023. In this capacity, Brian is responsible for the overall management for the City of Milwaukee’s municipal fleet and fleet operations, including a fleet dispatch section that schedules and deploys over 400 vehicles and operators on a daily basis. He has extensive experience administering asset management software, as well as fuel management systems and alternative fuels.    

Brian began his career as a mechanic after attending Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming and, after several jobs in the private sector; Brian began working for the City of Milwaukee.  While working full-time, Brian returned to school and earned a degree in Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  Brian was later promoted to Fleet Repair Supervisor, and quickly earned a second promotion to Fleet Systems Manager, and then later to Fleet Repairs Manager, overseeing repair activities at five locations throughout the city. In the three years preceding his current role, Brian served as Fleet Manager for the Milwaukee Police Department, and spearheaded the adoption of hybrid patrol vehicles, upfit standardization, and a transition to synchronized emergency lighting systems. Brian brings a wealth of experience in public service, and in all aspects of fleet management. Future goals and projects include modernizing and integrating technology into all aspects of Fleet Services and Operations and establishing an apprenticeship program that will provide high school students with marketable job skills while creating a recruitment pipeline for skilled trades positions within the city.

In his free time, Brian builds his own computer systems, enjoys cooking, and works on many home renovation projects. Brian and his wife have two daughters and reside near Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
