Douglas V. Baker is the Chief Innovation Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology at SoundOff Signal, a Michigan-based manufacturer of emergency warning and safety systems. Baker is recognized globally in the emergency vehicle lighting and controls market as an innovator and thought leader demonstrated with over 60 domestic and international patents issued and pending, an Instructor at Oakland University’s Automotive Lighting program, and an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineer’s lighting committee as well as other industry technical committees.
At SoundOff Signal, Baker leads strategic innovation planning in partnerships, research, industry-disruptive safety concepts, and new core technologies. One key innovation that he spearheaded was the company's adoption of optical grade silicone technology that has revolutionized the emergency lighting industry. The award-winning silicone technology has become the industry benchmark in harsh duty applications which has led to high customer adoption ratings.
Baker holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University and Management Development Certificate from Aquinas College. Baker’s more than 20 years of experience in color science applied technology coupled with his extensive experience with military/government programs in safety critical electronics and control systems has led to an impressive tenure and leadership in this market.
