Matthew Ayers is the National Training Manager for SoundOff Signal, a Michigan-based manufacturer of emergency warning technologies. Before joining SoundOff in 2018, Matt served 23 years as a law enforcement officer, his career culminating as a patrol services commander at the rank of Captain. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 259th Session. Matt has extensive experience as a law enforcement trainer, policymaker and fleet manager. Additionally, he has completed hundreds of police and fire vehicle upfits, becoming an expert on the process and needs of emergency vehicle operators. To share his knowledge, Matt has written 30 articles on warning system technology for Hendon Media Group and served as chair of their Police Fleet Expo from 2015-2018.

After many years working in and with emergency vehicles, Matt developed a passion for how warning systems can improve communication to enhance safety for all roadway users. In his role with SoundOff Signal, he trains technicians and upfit providers, and supports public safety and first responder agencies with cutting edge information about warning system applications. Many of his concepts for calming chaotic visual messages are now industry standard. Active on LinkedIn, Matt has authored “It's Not Rocket Science...It's Harder,” about leadership, and "bluePRINT: Intelligent Control and More,” detailing SoundOff Signal’s innovative intelligent control system, as well as other articles. He co-created the “Twisted Pair” video series on SoundOff Signal's YouTube Channel, the first video series focused on educating, informing, and empowering vehicle upfitting specialists.

Matthew Ayers is a disabled veteran who served with the United States Army’s 10th Mountain Division. He is married, has two children and resides in Tennessee.
